About this Event
Each year, some of the world’s brightest graduates leave university hoping to change the world — only to find themselves pulled towards the same three careers:
finance, consulting and corporate law
.
Critics have dubbed this the
“Bermuda Triangle of Talent”
: a system in which prestigious firms offer exceptional pay, status and opportunity, drawing talented graduates away from careers tackling society’s most pressing problems. But is this really a waste of talent? Or are these industries unfairly blamed for offering ambitious graduates the careers they actually want?
Join UCL Debating Society and UCL Economics & Finance Society for a lively debate on ambition, impact and what our brightest graduates should do with their careers.
Hear both sides make their case, put your questions to the speakers, and decide for yourself:
This House Opposes the Rise of the “Bermuda Triangle of Talent.”
