About this Event
Ever wondered how scientists can
grow mini versions of organs in the lab
and use them to study the immune system?
Come along to our Immunology Journal Club where we’ll explore
3D organoids and how they’re being used in immunology research
🦠 In this session we'll look at how these models are actually being used to investigate immune responses, disease, and interactions between immune cells and tissues.
During the session, we’ll break the paper down together, one of our members will lead with the summary of the article, then we will discuss the experiments and findings, and talk about explore some bigger questions 💭 — For example, '
How closely can organoids actually replicate what happens in the human body?'
'
How can immune cells be incorporated into these models?'
'
What can organoids reveal about immune–tissue interactions that traditional 2D cell cultures can’t?'
📄 The research paper will be sent out
5 days before the session
, giving you time to have a read (and don’t worry if you don’t understand all of it!).
There is
no expertise needed and no pressure to know everything!
Everyone is welcome — whether you already know a bit about organoids or have
never heard of them before
