About this Event
Join the UCL Government & Politics Society for an evening with Professor Sir David Omand, former Director of GCHQ and the United Kingdom’s first Security and Intelligence Coordinator.
Sir David will be joining us to discuss secret intelligence and the future of technology, drawing on a career at the centre of British national security. The evening will explore how intelligence agencies operate in a changing world, the impact of generative AI on intelligence work, and whether autonomous weapons could ever be trusted to comply with the laws of war.
The event will provide an opportunity to hear directly from one of Britain’s leading authorities on intelligence and security, followed by a Q&A where attendees will have the chance to put their own questions to Sir David.
Whether you are interested in British politics, international affairs, security, technology, or simply want to hear from someone with decades of experience at the highest levels of government, this promises to be an engaging and insightful evening.
Co-hosted with the Bentham Brooks Institute.
