Hosted by Students' Union UCL. Discover how community-led research can reshape the stories we tell, the spaces we build, and the futures we imagine. Join us for an immersive visit to the Museum of Homelessness (MOH), the world’s first museum dedicated to homelessness, right here in North London.
MOH is not a traditional museum. Founded and run by people with lived experience of homelessness, it’s a community-driven organisation that combines research, direct support, campaigning, and creative practice.
MOH will upend everything you think you know about museums: what they collect, who they’re for, and how they hold memory. You’ll leave with a completely new sense of what community research can look like, and how community-led spaces can reshape the stories we tell and the futures we want.
What to expect?
Dive into the museum's collections
After a special welcome from the museum team, we’ll
dive straight into a collection curated
by
and
for
people with lived experience of homelessness
— objects that carry stories, memories, and acts of resistance. We’ll explore the award-winning
Criminal: An Untold History of Homelessness, Resistance and Survival
taking us from the “Homelessness Big Bang” of the 1600s to the disinformation shaping public attitudes today. Experience an exhibition that's been designed by community researchers and be curious about the stories it shares.
Meet community storytellers
We’ll meet one of the museum’s community storytellers
, who will bring the Museum’s collections alive, powerfully sharing what these objects mean and represent to them as people with lived experience of homelessness. Live storytelling is the beating heart of MOH; so experience what it’s like finding out about objects through live storytelling, rather than museum labels. Be curious about what co
‑
creation looks like when building a community museum from scratch.
Ask questions!
You’ll have time to ask questions
, wander through the museum’s other spaces, including the community garden and striking murals, and… | Location: Museum of Homelessness, Manor House Lodge, Finsbury Park, Seven Sisters Road, London, N4 2DE

Hosted by Hiking Club. This 20km point to point follows the North Downs Way from the village of Wye, climbing through open chalk farmland and the ancient King's Wood before dropping down into the picture perfect medieval village of Chilham, one of the most beautiful villages in Kent. From there the route traces the Great Stour river valley all the way into Canterbury, with the cathedral gradually appearing on the horizon as you close in on the finish.
Hosted by UCL Student Social Impact. Join the
Community Research Initiative
(or CRIS to our friends) for our annual celebration of our students and communities who did something a little different and worked to co-create research for social impact.
This year, we’ll be highlighting our student leaders and community leaders who have bridged the university and community gap to address some of society's most pressing problems.
Expect engaging panels and posters showing how our CRIS leaders have tackled issues from supporting refugees to addressing the housing crisis. Grab a glass of bubbles and chat to students, UCL Staff, and community leaders from across the country while celebrating over 60 research and community projects that have made a difference this year.
All about the Community Research Initiative
The Community Research Initiative, based at the Students’ Union, is all about bringing people together across the student-community divide to co-design research and create real world impact. Now in its ninth year, CRIS supports students at every stage of their academic journey to become researchers, collaborators, and ultimately leaders within their communities.
Read more about our different programmes
Our programme supports:
Undergraduates
to gain practical research experience by volunteering on 2–3 month projects with local charities and community organisations.
Master’s students
to conduct co-designed dissertation research in partnership with community organisations on issues that matter to them
Doctoral students
to apply their expertise through high-impact community research consultancy projects that deliver real-world impact
And we run a series of taster events, field trips, and workshops designed to introduce students to community engaged research for the first time! Oh my!
So what’s the CRIS showcase all about?
Whether you’re a CRIS student, a community organisation, UCL staff member, or simply curious about community-engaged research, at the showcase you can expect:
